Particular conviction and commitment of the management of industrial plants, local self-government bodies, researches and growing public awareness of the environmental issues are making the natural environment of the Opole Region healthier from year to year. Large sums are invested in construction of waste treatment plants (115 currently operated in the Region), modern dumping sites (49); more and more localities across the Region are connected to sewer systems and treatment plants.
The environmental wealth of the Region consists of four natural parks and thirty four reserves, covering about 318 hectares. The number of industrial plants throughout the Region belonging to the elite group of ISO 14001 certified companies has kept on booming.
